Things that scare the hell out of me
Being watched by the likes of the Bush Administration:
Intelligence centers run by states across the country have access to personal information about millions of Americans, including unlisted cellphone numbers, insurance claims, driver’s license photographs and credit reports, according to a document obtained by The Washington Post.
One center also has access to top-secret data systems at the CIA, the document shows, though it’s not clear what information those systems contain.
The possibility of a reinstatement of the draft if McCain is elected. I specify McCain because he has been so hawkish (and wrong) on Iran. One thing is sure — with the strain on our military and stretched recruiting efforts that include a disproportionate number of people who have not graduated from high school (the last number I heard was 30%), we have two choices: Scale back military operations in Iraq or reinstate the draft.
This is a pivot point for the candidates. Jeremiah Wright doesn’t matter at all; getting out of Iraq does. Don’t let yourself get sucked into the spin.
