The Empress Has No Clothes

You know it’s a sad day in news when Marilyn Monroe lookalike nude photos of Lindsay Lohan are published, the longest-term dictator in the world steps down, the Speaker of the House finally gets some cojones all in one day, but more blog posts are written about “plagiarism” than anything else. On any other day the Lindsay photos would be the biggest news of the day, so I guess there’s a silver lining in there somewhere.

This isn’t about plagiarism. It’s about words. The power of words; the power of negative words.

Studies show that for every negative statement, it takes six positive statements to overcome the negative. Hillary Clinton and her gang of Wolf-sons know this. Not only do they know it, they’ve been on the receiving end of it and have evidently learned their lessons well from the master of negative spin, Karl Rove.

Here’s the problem I have. If voters with the complicity of the pundits allow petty chickenshit lawyer tactics to take down Barack Obama, I will have no difficulty leaving the Democratic party and turning independent. And those crossover voters that are out there now will not vote for Hillary; they’ll either stay home or vote McCain, leaving us with another 4 years of “kill them, kill them all, God will know his own.”

Just for the record, a few facts about me:

  1. I have never in my adult life donated to a political campaign until this year.
  2. I have never in my adult life felt like I had an opportunity to have a voice in the governance of this country beyond my vote.
  3. I have never in my adult life hoped for a truly transformative Presidency that could involve me on any level.
  4. I have never in my adult life felt such contempt for a member of my own political party as I do for Hillary Clinton and her gang of smear boys today.
  5. I have never been as frustrated with the press and bloggers as I have been today. The whole spin on the ‘words’ thing is such a god damn gangbang, climb on the bandwagon and sing the song right in tune, damn the facts. Fuck you all for being sheep instead of thinkers.

When my 27-year old son warned me that the party faithful would pull Barack Obama down to crown Hillary, I earnestly argued that he was wrong, cynical, unwilling to hope. I argued so passionately that he actually dared to give it some attention.

Wisconsin and Hawai’i voters, show him who’s right — get angry at the press manipulation, get angry at the distractions, remember what it was like to live with this for 8 years and get out and vote. Especially the students. Don’t reward liars.

Bonus Quotes of the Day:

Hillary Clinton: “But speeches don’t put food on the table. Speeches don’t fill up your tank, or fill your prescription or do anything about that stack of bills that keeps you up at night.”

Barack Obama: “NAFTA didn’t put much food on the table either.”
