Were those Clinton supporters REALLY hers?
Look at some of the video I posted earlier here and here. Then watch the very angry, very het up “Harriet Christian”. Whether this is a pseudonym or not, I don’t know. A New Yorker named Harriet Christian did donate $200 to the Clinton campaign in January, but it remains to be seen whether this woman is the same woman as the one claiming to be Harriet Christian in the video. This is not language I would ever expect to leave the mouth of a self-respecting Democrat. “Inadequate black man?” “God damn the Democrats?”
I have it on good authority that these videos are being circulated by a McCain new media consultant. So much for that up-front campaign on the issues, eh Senator McCain?
Are these “ordinary people” in the videos political operatives — the McCain sheep in Hillary clothing, intentionally disrupting and trying to stir the pot? Faithful Progressive thinks so, and I’m leaning that way as well.
Hillary Supporters for McCain started up in April of this year. It’s written by Stephen Maloney, a self-confessed Pennsylvania eccentric who claims to be a political expert and is a strong John McCain supporter. Oh, I should also mention that in prior careers, he worked for ‘Big Oil’ as a speechwriter, too.
It’s no secret that the Republicans desperately want to run McCain against Clinton. They are afraid of Obama. The email I received this morning says it all: “Democrats Win Landslide Victory”. It goes on to discuss Bill Frist’s fears of that headline the day after the election.
They are afraid of Obama’s organization and grass-roots support. What better way to undermine it than to suggest that his opponent’s supporters will vote for McCain? Even better, plant a few whacked-out women in the room and the crowd and get some video of them proclaiming their McCain pain. That serves a couple of purposes. It makes women look like lunatics AND like they’re deserting the Democrats in droves for the Republican party.
At this point, the only beneficiaries from division within the Democratic party are the Republicans. Assume these bizarre videos come from folks who would support Hillary Clinton on a cold day in hell, but would push themselves to the wall for John McCain.
If there are a few Clinton supporters out there angry enough to vote McCain, they might want to recall how John McCain slimed Chelsea Clinton in public to get a straight fix on how Senator McCain feels about respecting women.
These shenanigans end on June 4th, provided that Senator Clinton gives her wholehearted support to Barack Obama in the general election and encourages her supporters to do the same, because she stands to gain much, much more than she will by aligning with the likes of John McCain, either by default or design.
