Soldiers Serving Define Support
And surprise! It’s got nothing to do with talking about supporting them, but for them, it’s about being done with this wretched war:
Only moments before speaking with ABC News, the troops had been listening to Vice President Dick Cheney give a rousing speech, but it didn’t change their political preference.
Spc. Imus Loto said he supported Obama. “It will be something different. But he’s out there and he’ll probably support us a lot more.”
These guys aren’t stupid. They see through the platitudes tossed around by Petraeus, Cheney, Crocker and Bush and what they know is that true support means getting them out of that God-forsaken place and back to their families, and hopefully, jobs.
BTW, it really bugs me when they’re referred to as ‘troops’. It’s so dehumanizing. The term ‘troops’ is a metric term, not a human one. They’re soldiers, people, men and women with families and they need to come home.
