Monumental Lie of the Yes on 8 Campaign

New Yes on 8 lies

In living color. These misguided people somehow think handing the state a strict definition of marriage guarantees their constitutional freedoms? Don’t they realize the consequences of abrogating what the church has been free to define themselves to the state?

See, they want you to think that somehow churches will be forced to perform same-sex marriages. Of course, that’s simply not true. But they think their argument works.

To the Yes on 8 folks: I really hope I don’t hear wailing and gnashing of teeth in your churches about how you can’t reach young people. Because this campaign, more than any other, has alienated those you most hoped to reach.

Very sad.

  • I'm very concerned that Prop 8 will legalize polygamy.. That's why I'm going to leave things as they are and vote NO on PROP 8.

Hey-thanks for posting that great photo of my son throwing the baseball at the YES on 8 Rally. I forgot my camera at the YES on 8 Bus Rally and thanks to your great photo of him I now have an additional photo for my blog-YES on 8!
  • If you'd like a copy of the full shot, drop an email to drumsnwhistles@gmail.com. I'll be glad to send it to you. Believe it or not, i'm not your enemy. If it makes you feel better to think you've snarked it up on me by putting one of the 'opposition's' photos on your blog, fine. But think on this: If I had an objection to that, would I have licensed it as a creative commons non-profit licensed photo, rather than reserving all rights?

You are welcome to any of the photos I took, provided you do not profit from them, and give the photo credit where due.
  • Glad you like it. I have a full shot (uncropped) with most of the sign in it as well.
  • I think the govt should get totally out of the marriage business and solve this thing for all time. If people want to make private contracts with each other, fine. If churches want to marry people, fine. But keep the govt out of it.
  • Couldn't agree more, suebob. Make it a contract, pure and simple, let churches control the religious aspects and be done.
  • This looks like a real concern: Proposition 8 may make Polygamy legal. You have to wonder about its strange wording.
  • While I agree that it could be worded better, I don't think the singular 'a' is subject to misinterpretation by the courts.
