Open Thread for History

June 3, 2008 · Posted in Election 2008, Notes

Tonight, history is made. Stop by and drop your thoughts onto this thread about how you feel about Senator Obama winning the nomination, or anything else that’s on your mind.

Twitter will probably be down as results come in or during his speech, but you’re welcome here, or on the NewsGang Ustream room. I’d love to have your impressions posted in the comments to save for history’s sake.

Thanks to all of you who read this blog and take the time to comment. I love reading your feedback.

  • Fifty years ago in a North Carolina tobacco field, my Grandfather George Frink warned me to be careful where I chose to say "yes mam" to a black woman, because if I were not, the KKK would ultimately kill me.
He was proud of my respectful defiance of convention at the time, and was simply trying to tell me what I had to know in order to protect myself.
That same day a 63-year-old woman named Susan Boone told me I was the only "white boy" ever to say "yes mam" to her.
I would give a great deal to have a moment with each of them tonight.
  • George,

I wish my grandma was still alive. She would have no patience with some but would have been firmly behind Obama. And she's from South dakota. ;-)
