Dan Abrams has it wrong

He described the Obama supporters opposed to Hillary Clinton as VP as opposing her nomination because they don’t like her.

I don’t know her. I don’t like things she’s done. That’s not my issue.

My issue is that she is a distraction, an impediment to getting shit done. She is drama queen to his calmer, more efficient style. Putting her in the VP slot ensures drama, and more drama.

I want to get shit done. That’s all. It’s not a personal thing. I just don’t want the stinkin’ drama. I get enough of that at home. Don’t need it in my morning paper. Besides, I lived it once, for a long time, culminating in an impeachment. Don’t need it, don’t want it. Want someone with a style that doesn’t include putting the country in debt or turning women shrill on each other and stirring racial pots and all the rest of it.

So whatever it takes, Democrats, let’s find a place of respect for Hillary Clinton that will get her behind the candidate so we can get shit done. Okay?

    Man, she is just not going to let go. I think she might best serve the country in a leadership position in the U.S. Senate. Unless, of course, if she goes all rogue on us.
  • Marie, I've always thought that she'd be an incredibly effective Senate Majority Leader. But Harry Reid has actually solidified his hold on that spot.

    @marlaerwin, I'm thinking Dept HHS is the perfect place for her. With a nice strong Democratic Congress at her back and the momentum of Barack Obama's landslide in her sails.

    @CarlS I couldn't agree with you more. That's the heart of my problem with her. it's NOT personal. I'm sure she IS passionate. But her style is incompatible with his. It's not even complementary. All I can think of is the travel office scandals, et al.

    Barack Obama has carved a Ferrari of an organization. Hers is more like, well, Nascar. Is that elitist of me?
  • NASCAR fans have made it to every corner of society, so perhaps it's a poor choice of analogy ;)

    But, no, it is not elitist. Rather, it is a realistic look at the compatibility issue. I just hope the thought that the sledge hammer somehow compliments the surgical scalpel doesn't come into play, as some think.
  • Well, my thinking was that both cars are engineering amazements. They just
    have a different aura and appeal. I think it fails though, in that Nascar
    reaches the masses better than Ferraris do.

    A president needs to lead and control his party. Would Bill and Hill yield their influence and control of the Democratic Party and defer to Obama? After Hillary's speech tonight, I don't see that happening, and would even consider that the mention of all her supporters as an indication that she would hold them hostage against unifying the party.

    The Obama camp would have to deal with Bill and Hillary still pulling strings inside the party which would give an appearance at least, and a reality at best, of Obama being a puppet.
