Where I tell Glenn Beck He Can Suck It

Glenn Beck thinks we should be grateful for Big Oil, that we’re unfairly demonizing “Big Oil” in the American quest to unearth and punish villains.

Congress has picked “Big Oil” as their enemy of the week. These companies inexplicably put profits above people, ravaging the environment and financially assaulting the poor to put another couple of dollars on their balance sheet. That’s the storyline we’ve all been taught.

His bizarre logic goes like this: The more money “Big Oil” makes, the more they provide the fuel for ambulances, heating, and provide jobs for all those workin’ folks who might not otherwise have jobs.

Yes, times are tough for many. Sure, oil companies make a lot of cash. But, for that money, they get us to work, get ambulances to the hospital, keep our homes warm, and employ thousands of our friends and neighbors while financing their retirement, paying their health care, and providing energy to millions. Because of capitalism, they have the incentive to do that.

Evidently Glenn Beck ignores the obvious Unocal ties to the aggressive moves that led up to 9/11, the incestuous relationship of the Bush administration to Big Oil, the incredibly evil acts of the Enron crowd, and the fact that our own President will reap millions from the economic rape of the American public, $4/gallon, over and over again.

Beck also seems to think that global warming is no big deal. Whatever.

The most insulting part of Beck’s little self-indulgent smackdown of every thinking citizen on this planet is his moral relativism. His attitude throughout this article seems to be that it’s okay to profit from Big Oil as long as jobs are tossed back to the rabble and lights go on. Screw you, Glenn Beck.

Why does CNN keep this guy on, and give him a platform? Probably to give folks like me the chance to set them straight.
